How do I create a new database?

The easiest way to create a new database is using the Database Wizard.
To create a new database using the database wizard:

  1. Click MySQL Database Wizard in the control panel.
  2. In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Next Step.
The name can be up to 55 characters long.
  3. Click Next Step.
  4. In the Username text box, enter a name for the user account which you wish to allow to manage the database.

Enter and confirm the new password in the appropriate text boxes. You can use the Password Generator button to create a strong password if you prefer.

There is an indicator below the password boxes showing how strong the password is.

You must choose a password stronger than 65. This is to help protect your database accounts from hacking. A secure password contains uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbol and is not a dictionary word.

  5. Click Create User.
  6. Select the checkboxes that correspond to the privileges that you want to grant the user, or select ALL PRIVILEGES, which will give the user account full access.
  7. Click Next Step.
  8. The system will display a message confirming success.

If you do not wish to use the wizard you can create a database manually:

  1. Click MySQL Databases in the control panel.
  2. In the New Database text box, enter a name for the database and click Next Step.
  3. The name can be up to 55 characters long.
  4. Click Create Database.
